Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandI don't think its cheating mate:-) This is excellent and you should be proud! What a great image to see and capture! Goodness knows what the event is but I would be a bit worried!! 3 Feb 2009 5:08am Alina Livia Lazăr from Leigh, United KingdomYou have reasons for being proud. I like this very much. A powerful image! 3 Feb 2009 9:25am Pied Crow from Nairobi, KenyaSo, what happened next? This is very strong, thanks. Do you like it better in color or B&W? 3 Feb 2009 11:09am @Pied Crow: kind of a long standoff with some minor scuffles before they took the whole thing down the road a bit. EYES WIDE SHUT from United KingdomYou can feel tyhe tension in the air. Violence in the offing. So powerful in mono, and a photograph that you should be proud of. Excellent 3 Feb 2009 3:15pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesThey certainly look like a fun welcoming committee:-) 3 Feb 2009 3:25pm Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesLots of Robo Cops. Great composition. Nice silvery tones in their face shields. 3 Feb 2009 4:16pm Shirin Moosavi from Tehran, IranIt's not cheating at all! This is recreating a favorite shot, and now we have a whole new experience! 3 Feb 2009 5:52pm Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainVery good social image, I like the note of humor of the situation put by the words "Upcoming events". Its's a beautiful artistic shot, but not comfortable, of course. 3 Feb 2009 5:56pm DenisSm from Prague, Czech Republici like it :-), lower part is very nice expression for upcoming event :-)) 3 Feb 2009 9:41pm Matt from Gainesville, United StatesWow, that's a shot that'll stick with you for a long time! Just awesome. 3 Feb 2009 11:39pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesWow. This is powerful and ironic. An 'Upcoming Event' on which I'll pass, thank you. 3 Feb 2009 11:59pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomWe have come to accept this as the norm, it's an image with impact and you should rightly be proud of it. 4 Feb 2009 12:37am Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaWow - what an impact, and so stark in black and white! I think this article is apropos and chilling. 4 Feb 2009 5:10am @Damon Schreiber: thank you - and thank you for the link! par for the course - so far i've been evicted or restricted from taking photos of (a) a large shopping center ("i was told you were taking pictures of escalators", (b) an 80-story skyscraper in downtown Chicago ("we don't want no pictures in no magazines!"), (c) out the window of a commercial airline flight ("it's a whole new world since 911..."), (d) a train platform ("hey! hey! hey! you can't do that!") to name but a few. curiously - and maybe you could shed some light on this - the Toronto cops could care less as i and a friend walked back and forth between them and the protesters - and even behind them. in Chicago, i'd probably have at least half a dozen stitches and a broken camera! Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaWell so far (and I have a little experience in this area) there's no problem here photographing emergency workers going about their jobs on public property as long as you're not interfering in any way. It is of course easy for anyone in uniform (often security guards in my experience) to get carried away with the 'authority figure' thing. I did have one of these try to grill me recently when I was just taking a photo near the commercial building he was 'guarding' recently. When was this photo taken? I can't remember a demonstration this tense happening here in the last few years. It looks like it must be Front Street near University Avenue (I think I see the CBC building reflected in the glass). 4 Feb 2009 6:54pm @Damon Schreiber: i've done a little research and it would appear to be this: Hikari from Kumamoto, JapanVery well seen ! , the message on top makes the photo! 5 Feb 2009 10:12am |
